Alex Codd has been Assistant Director for Economic Development and Regeneration at Hull City Council since January 2019.
Prior to this, he was the City Planning Manager at the council for 10 years, bringing a renewed focus to attracting developers into the city where he went on to achieve record levels of house building across Hull.
Alex led the planning team that enabled the £310m investment by Siemens Gamesa and ABP into the wind turbine blade manufacturing plant and, in his current role, went on to secure the £183m extension to the building.
Alex also worked personally with Reckitt to ensure its Hull site became its global home for R&D which, in turn, led to them creating the ‘Oh Yes! Net Zero’ programme of work across the city. He works closely with the University of Hull on its research with a particular focus on flood management, energy management and generation, business development, entrepreneurialism and med-tech.
