For Humber Freeport, UKREiiF provides a powerful platform to highlight our region’s diverse investment opportunities.

Following the devolution deals for Hull and East Yorkshire and Greater Lincolnshire and recent Mayoral elections, UKREiiF gives Humber Freeport a high-profile opportunity to showcase the benefits that can come from devolved powers and additional funding.

Today, our CEO Simon Green led a panel focused on how the potential of Humber Freeport can be unlocked through strategic partnerships. Joined by Amy Lambert, Head of Freeports and Investment Zones for the Department of Business and Trade, along with Hull and East Yorkshire Mayor Luke Campbell, and Greater Lincolnshire Mayor Dame Andrea Jenkins, the discussion focused on cross-regional collaboration and breaking down silos to drive investment.

A clear theme emerged throughout the session – the critical importance of unified leadership across the Humber region. Both Mayors emphasized their commitment to working together, bridging the north and south banks of the Humber, and creating a co-ordinated approach with all four local authorities to present a compelling and consistent message to investors.

Simon Green further emphasized how the Humber offers a competitive advantage within key sectors. He highlighted how the Freeport acts as a major catalyst for investment, reinforcing the area’s strategic importance to the UK economy.

Throughout the day, the Humber Freeport team engaged with industry leaders, investors and stakeholders to discuss potential partnerships and investment opportunities.

During discussions, Amy Lambert from the Department for Business and Trade acknowledged the Humber region’s unique position of national and international significance, reinforcing the government’s recognition of the area’s strategic importance.

As we look ahead to day two, we’ll continue to highlight the distinctive benefits the Humber region offers and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

The Humber presence at UKREiiF includes representation from all four of our region’s local authorities, alongside private sector partners including Wykeland Group, Sewell Group, ABP (Associated British Ports), Able UK, the University of Lincoln, and more.
